ABOUT THE PHOTOMARATHON

PhotoMarathon is a day-long series of photo contests that tests the skills and creativity of participants. An annual event arranged by Canon Marketing (Philippines), Inc. for its loyal consumers, the number of contestants has grown considerably since its local inception in 2006. This year, the roving competition started in Cagayan de Oro, then went to Bohol, Vigan, Legazpi and just recently in Manila.

Entries are categorized into two, compact and DSLR camera. Canon users are given themes to interpret through photography with a certain time limit.

"We are very happy with the outcome," beams Canon Vice-President and Image Communications Products division head Bong Serevo, "as one of the major projects of our ImageNation campaign, we hope that this encourages talented Filipinos to recognize the beauty that is our country."

MY PHOTOMARATHON EXPERIENCE

I, myself, joined the Manila leg of the PhotoMarathon. My first time to ever join a photography competition. Luckily, i was able to make it through the online registration despite the huge number of participants who anticipated the opening of the registration. I hardly slept the night before it, I am both anxious and excited. I left as early as 5:30am following the event organizers' advise beforehand that there will be three (3) fun run happening within Makati. There were around more than a thousand participants who came and joined the competition. For now, I simply enjoyed the competition, get the feel of it but on the next Canon PhotoMarathon competition on 2012, I will be more competitive and prepared.

Congratulations to all the winners! Canon definitely made everyone feel "Delighting You Always."
